Achieving protection objectives with certainty

One of the most important principles of functional safety technology is: certainty by validation. Validation ensures that the implemented safety functions achieve the specified protection objectives once the protective devices have been configured and commissioned. In the verification and validation plan, experts from SICK determine how the operation of the safety functions is to be confirmed. Using analysis and testing, each individual safety function is checked for proper implementation. If the protection objective has not been met, SICK experts adjust the configuration accordingly and repeat the validation process. This means that once the process is complete, all safety functions have been "safely" implemented.
